Overview:
Patriotic and community spirit is very much alive and well in Lake Forest, Illinois. The nation’s birthday is commemorated in a big way in this tightly knit community with a celebration that would make our Founding Fathers proud. It seems as if all of Lake Forest turns out for their annual 4th of July celebration, which is reminiscent of an elaborate, old fashioned picnic.
Designed as a traditional Independence Day celebration, the event offers top quality entertainment for all members of the family, culminating in its famous fireworks show choreographed to music.
The event kicks off in mid-afternoon with live music from the main stage. As the bands play from the main stage, the kid’s area will be in full swing. For children under 12 years of age there will be inflatable slides and climbing features, face painting and performance. There will be a wide selection of food available as well as beer and wine.
The fireworks show is the event’s main attraction and it does not disappoint anyone attending. Each year, the show gets bigger and more elaborate. Professionally produced and choreographed to music, the show features the highest quality fireworks, rivaling the City of Chicago’s show.
Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation:
The event is hosted by the Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation. This committee of citizen volunteers exists to provide scholarships for those Lake Forest residents who want to participate in Parks and Recreation programs but don’t have the means to. Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation also support programs over and above what the city provides such as the annual 4th of July celebration.
