Overview:

Windy City Hot Dog Fest hits right at the core of this food-loving city’s long romance with that ubiquitous, multi-faceted encased meat- that universally loved and perpetually evolving cooked sausage that is the star of this show. 

Early German and Polish settlers began making and selling sausages more than a hundred years ago, and ever since, the ancestral sausage, and it’s evolution- the Hot Dog-  have been a much loved and celebrated part of Chicago’s local cuisine. 

Finally, there is a festival dedicated to Chicago’s Hot Dog tradition- and what a celebration it is!

Hot Dog Fest brings together many of the city’s great hot dog vendors who each offer their particular type of hot dog, along with a wide variety of hot dog enhancing sides. Visitors can sample hot dogs in a wide variety of styles both old and new.  And, of course, there is plenty of cold beer and wine on hand to wash it all down.

Meanwhile, great local and regional bands perform continuously from the Music Stage and provide musical backdrop for all of this dining and drinking; while a second stage will feature entertaining lectures on the history of  Chicago hot dogs.  A creative Kids Area keeps children entertained throughout the two days.

It’s fitting that this hot dog nirvana takes place in Chicago- for there is no town in this world that loves hot dogs as much as the Windy City!
