Overview:
Chicago’s Oktoberfest is now going into its 20th year- and, as it seems to do every year- is expanding again.
The event takes place on the grounds of St Alphonsus, one of Chicago’s oldest and most beautiful churches. This gorgeous German Gothic style building provides a perfect backdrop for the festival which has the look and feel of an authentic European autumn beer festival.
This three-day event takes place under a gigantic tent- ‘The Beer Hall’, and on the surrounding grounds and side streets. There are two music stages- one inside the tent and one outside, a Craft Beer Tasting area, and Kinderfest featuring family friendly activities. There are even large screen TV’s for die hard football fans.
Entertainment is continuous, and includes both traditional German bands and top regional rock and indie rock bands. There are German dancers, and even traditional German sing-a-longs- and along with this, a guaranteed lederhosen sighting for most all visitors.
In addition to plenty of cold beer and a variety of beer-enhancing festival food, Oktoberfest features hand made brats that are said to be some of the best in the world.
This event is packed from the moment it opens until its closing minutes, and has joined the ranks of Chicago’s iconic events.
