Overview:
Celebrating its 50th year in the heart of Little Village, the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade, Chicago’s Mexican community commemorates that country’s independence from Spain in 1810. As one of the city’s largest parades, it draws tens of thousands of spectators.
Community groups, schools, local businesses and corporate friends all have floats in this lively and colorful spectacular display of Mexican pride. The parade’s end point is Fiestas Patrias on 26th Street and Kostner where a huge festival includes live music from two stages, International and National music headliners, wide variety of authentic food and one of the largest carnivals in the Midwest.
