Overview:
Renegade Craft Fair is a large scale, free-to-attend marketplace event featuring hundreds of artists who showcase and sell their one of a kind handmade goods and artworks. The events are held annually in urban, 'arty' areas in Brooklyn, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and London (UK).
Quality is the Renegade Craft Fair watchword. Each individual fair is juried from hundreds of applications to purposefully deliver a large, curated, eclectic array of young and emergent designers producing original and handmade goods in a wide variety of media. The net result of this carefully juried show is that shoppers experience a huge variety of high quality, handmade, original one-of-a-kind merchandise. Shoppers never fear that they will 'see their purchases coming and going' as the old saying goes. A shopping expedition to a Renegade Fair guarantees originality.
The first Renegade Craft Fair was held in Chicago in 2003. It was an immediate success and quickly spread to four other US markets- and, in 2011, added London, UK.
Although shopping is the main focus for Renegade Craft Fairs, there is always ambient entertainment- including hands-on craft workshops marching bands, public art performances and projects, DJ's from indie music outlets, photo-booths, sampling- and- a variety of quality food and libation choices. The mood is always festive- buoyed by the thrill of the hunt and the joy that comes from finding that perfect, one-of-a kind objet d' art.
