Chicago Pride Fest returns for its 11th year in 2013 and – because of its growing popularity – is expanding again. Bigger name entertainment…more vendors…more interactive displays…and longer hours are just a few of the things in the works for 2014.
Held a week before Chicago's Pride Parade, the event's purpose is to offer organized, quality outdoor entertainment for gay/lesbian/Bi/transsexual Chicagoans as well as out-of-town visitors throughout Pride Weekend.
Chicago Pride Fest features non-stop musical entertainment on two stages, food and drink and more than 100 vendors offering fine arts, crafts, world market goods and merchandise targeted to the gay/lesbian community. National musical acts featured on one of the event's two stages have included RuPaul, Zelma Davis of C & C Music Factory, Crystal Waters, Linda Clifford, Suzanne Palmer, Irene Cara, Hugo. The second stage features local musicians, deejays and performing artists.
One of the most popular and unique components of this festival is the Pet Pride Parade- a junior version of Sunday's Chicago Pride Parade in which proud owners parade their costumed pets on a short route throughout the events' surrounding blocks.
The event is hosted by the Northalsted Area Merchants Association, the sponsor of the world-famous Northalsted Market Days.
