Overview:
Pizza, the universally loved and perpetually modified dish, is the star of this show. The Pizza Fest event format is very simple: a wide variety of top pizza vendors, ice cold beer, wine, chef competitions, 'best of ' awards and great live rock music.
Many of the event's pizza vendors are local, but several others travel from all over the country to participate. Pizza representations include Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza, New York style pizza, Neapolitan style, Pan Pizza, Stuffed Pizza, Sicilian Pizza, Grilled Pizza, White Pizza, Greek Pizza, Middle Eastern Pizza, Desert pizza, and much more.
Some of the country's best pizza recipes are featured at this event- and all are offered for sale- by the slice or the whole pie.
The on-site Chef Competitions are friendly but intense as attendees vote for Best in Class, Best Sauce, Best Crust, Most Original, etc.
Meanwhile, great local and regional bands perform from the Music Stage and provide musical backdrop for all of this dining and drinking.
True pizza aficionados claim this event as their special Nirvana-as there are few places in this world where so many different and delicious pizza variations can be sampled. And, as a final word- it's somehow fitting that this Pizza Nirvana takes place in Chicago!
