Overview:
Des Plaines' Summer Fling is the quintessential summer party, providing this close knit community with three days of non-stop summer fun and entertainment.
The four main elements of the event are: national name music acts from the Mainstage, elaborate, on-going kids entertainment, a quality carnival, and an expansive food selection. The food component, expanded again in 2012, includes dozens of food vendors and local restaurants- giving the visitor a fantastic variety of food choices. The overall ambience of the event is very much like a country fair- eclectic, busy, crowded, friendly, warm and welcoming.
The Des Plaines community embraces this event whole-heartedly; it seems that everyone in the entire town comes out. Des Plaines is known world-wide as the home of the first McDonalds' restaurant- but those who live, work or visit there know how much more there is to this town than it's famous claim to fame. In Des Plaines, the spirit of community is ever-present, and volunteering and giving back are part of its heritage.
